Card for Mother-in-law and friend

As my Mother- in-Law's birthday and a good friend’s birthday are within days of each other, I decided that this year I would make the same card for both of them.  I was just hoping that the stamps were going to arrive on time for me to make the cards otherwise I was going to have to think of another design and luckily for me they did.

I used the JustRite Violette Vintage Labels cling stamp set to first stamp the topper onto cream card which I then coloured with Copic pens and some of the background with Distress Ink.  Then I cut them out using the JustRite Vintage label and banner die.

I stamped around the edge of the card also with the Violette Vintage Labels set and also coloured with Copic pens.  I then made the background using the Couture Creations Embossing Folder Tied Together on a purple Stardream card.  I used purple ribbon down both edges of the background paper and on one side put a bow and on the other put a strip under that has 'Happy Birthday' on.  You cannot see it very well it these photos.

I cut out the sentiments from the Britannia dies and mounted these onto Spellbinders Framed Tags 1 for my Mother in Law and onto Spellbinders Ribbon Banners  for my friend and then mounted these on the cards.

Ships Aweigh Two

I was going to send the first card I made with this stamp desinged by Sam Poole and and the Couture Creations embossing folder to my cousin for his birthday but wasn't 100% sure about it.  I showed it to my mother and she said it was fine but then decided that I would make another one and change it a little

This time I made the card a little smaller to fit the embossing folder.  Once I had embossed some light blue card, using a cut-n-dry pen nib and Gathered Twigs distress ink, I coloured all the land brown.  Then using Broken China distress ink, I coloured the lines, compass and wording.

I  then mounted some dark blue card onto a cream background and mounted the embossed card onto this.

Then I stamped the ship using Brilliance Starlight Silver and then coloured in using the same ink with just a little purple and blue in the sea. I  cut the ship out using the Spellbinders Circles, using the Out of The Box technique for the top of the ship so that I did not cut that part off and using foam pads mounted onto the card.

Again, using the Starlight Silver, I stamped anchor, wheels and small ships around the outside of the embossed card, masking the embossed card so that it looked like the embossed card was mounted on the stamping.

I felt that this was a much better card than the first one and the right one to send to my cousin.

Using the Starlight silver again, I stamped a sentiment from the Paintbox Poppets stamp set and then cut with a circle spellbinders and mounted on the card to finish.

Ships Aweigh!

I was really pleased when Sam Poole designed her Nautical Journey and Weigh Anchor set of stamps as it was nice to get some stamps that would work well both for males and females.

When buying her stamps, I also bought the Couture Creations embossing folder World Map which goes really well with her stamps but will also go well with lots of others.

I embossed a piece of blue paper with the World Map embossing folder and then coloured the raised parts with Distress Ink.  This was then mounted on to dark blue card.

I stamped the ship from the Weigh Anchor set onto white paper using Brilliance Starlight Silver and then coloured in using Distress inks.  I then cut out using the Spellbinders Circles, using the Out of The Box technique for the top of the ship so that I did not cut that part off.

I then stamped some compasses and ships wheels from the Nautical Journey set and the anchor from Weigh Anchor and again coloured with distress inks.

I put some ribbon that I had bought from Hobbycraft onto the card and then stamped a sentiment from Weigh Anchor onto white card and brushed over with watered down distress ink to give a streaky effect and cut out with Spellbinders Labels 21 and the mounted onto the card.

I think that this makes a lovely male card with lots of texture.

I then mounted this onto cream card and finished off by making blue pearls around the edges with Cosmic Shimmer Pearl PVA glue Teal Sky.
